Car Hire in Naxos

Compare prices and save money on your car hire in Naxos

Naxos is the biggest Cyclades isle. It has some wonderful and plentiful natural spots, beautiful beaches, and a fascinating mythological history. But Naxos is much more, and if you plan to visit this Greek jewel you are well-advised to rent a car. The advantages are great. For instance, commuting will be fast (no, walking is not always an option!) and you can bring with you all the luggage you wish for a sea-side stay, picnic, or simply entertaining your children. Hiring a car in Naxos will be fairly easy with Gocarhire.co.uk. In a short while all you will have to think about is having some big-time fun!

What to do in Naxos

What about having fun in Naxos? Nothing easier than this, as this city offers valuable solutions for every sort of traveller, either in love with the sea, with history, with nature, or with nightlife. A trip might start from the city gate itself, Portara, one of the most visited spots in town. Close to that, the old castle covers the old area, not surprisingly the town’s historical core. Nearby we may also enter the archaeological museum and the church of Agios Nicodemus and Nectarius. Moreover, you might want to take a look at Apiranthos, a village in the inside area of the isle at some 25 kilometers from Naxos. While Apiranthos is also known as the “marble village” (all its streets are built in marble), Apollona is named after the Greek God Apollo, to which a ten-meter-tall statue is devoted. The island entertains its visitors in many ways, especially at night. Everything is concentrated in the capital city, and most of all on the seaside and the alleys that not only allow some postcard views but also offer several possibilities of tasting some outstanding Greek cuisine in one of the Chora typical taverns. Once you are done dining, if you have come along with your family you may like to take a walk about the city’s local boutiques. There are also several clubs where young people can have some all-night-long fun. Among the most famous clubs, take a look at Day-Night, Cream Club, Cosa Nostra and Super Island Club, the biggest and most known in Naxos.

Must-see

  • Portara (Naxos gateway)

  • A dinner in one of Chora Greek taverns

  • Agios Georgios bay

Driving near Naxos

Unsurprisngly, beaches are the main reason for visiting Naxos. The northern Riviera is wild and rocky, though you can also find some sandy bays repaired from marine streams. On the southern sidethere are many bays and coves often hidden in inlets to be reached only by sea or unpaved paths. The most famous of these is called Agios Georgios, a calm bay suited for families with children. On the same coastline you may visit Agios Prokopio, Agia Anna and Plaka, all of which are beaches mostly used for water sports. However, the fantastic wild natural scenarios of the Panormos and Kalandos bays deserve at least a visit.
